Unlike most other automakers, who seem focused exclusively on trucks and SUVs, Nissan continues to bet on small cars. In fact, the Japanese brand appears determined to strengthen its position even further with the 2026 edition of the Sentra, which is expected to be fully redesigned — as hinted by the first spy shots now circulating online.
It’s safe to say that the new Sentra will likely adopt Nissan’s latest design language — the one seen on most of its recent models — giving it a more futuristic and refined appearance than ever before.
As for the interior, we can expect something along the lines of what’s currently offered in the Nissan Kicks, including a fully digital dashboard. This would make the Sentra even more competitive in a segment where technology is now a major selling point.
So far, no major mechanical changes have been confirmed. Everything points to the 2026 Nissan Sentra keeping its current 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. This small powertrain does the job well, delivering 149 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque. That said, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Nissan introduce a second powertrain option. If so, a hybrid system seems like the logical choice — especially considering that’s what segment leaders are offering, along with a sporty variant.
One way or another, the 2026 Nissan Sentra is shaping up to be a very interesting car. I’ve always appreciated the Sentra for its comfort and quiet ride. In my opinion, the only thing missing from the Japanese automaker’s compact sedan is a bit of boldness — and just a touch of craziness.
We should know more in the coming weeks, as Nissan has confirmed that the 2026 model will hit the market before the end of the year.
